6 ways I transitioned to an Organic Lifestyle

06.06.2019

Hey Sunshines,

We began our transition into a more natural lifestyle as a family in 2013 after my son was diagnosed with autism at 3 years old. Discovering his autism forced us to take a look at ourselves as his parents and how much we contributed to the lifestyle we exposed him to. To break our bad habits instilled in us from our upbringing was not easy but necessary. We definitely did not want our already affected child to continue being affected because we didnt know any better. We had to break the cycle by un-learning everything we thought we knew while at the same time researching with an open mind. Til this day we are still educating ourselves because there’s always more to learn. I’m a huge believer that there is no such thing as “doing everything”. We started off knowing nothing about autism and nothing about cleaning up our lifestyle.

I always get questions about how we started our transition and where to start. I know it can be super overwhelming in the beginning stage so most people tell me they don't even know where to START because there’s just so much to do. That's why I suggest making changes step by step starting with what you consider most important and continuing from there. It's not about changing EVERYTHING all at once. That’s just going to stress you out and it’s not suppose to be stressful. So don’t expect to switch your whole life in one day or one week. It took me years to switch all these categories mentioned in my video. Everyone learns and applies at a different pace based on their understanding of each, how much they're prioritizing each change  and continuing to the next thing as soon as you can. We learned and applied changes based on what is top priority and how much we can do within our budget but most importantly prioritizing our health over the familiar comfort we had programmed into is from our childhood and society was a big mindset change that I’m still working on. We had to eliminate many things first before bringing in new things to invest into our health. When you know better, you do better. Right? So we didn't want to hold off too long on making changes but we made them as quickly as we could. So again, don't overwhelm yourself with trying to change everything all at once but at least take the first step and apply them 100% so you can move on to the second step while re-educating yourself daily.

I made this simple video with beginners in mind. Here I share 6 ways to transition into an organic/natural lifestyle by making changes on the things I consider most important to begin with. I also added more information + links on each topic in this post.

6 CATEGORIES:

1. Change the way you shop for food and where you shop!

• Pay attention to ingredients and become familiar with clean ingredients vs dirty ingredients

• Check out my FOOD HAUL VIDEO

for an example of what I like to buy and where.

Groceries/Markets mentioned in my video

⇢ Flatbush food coop

⇢ Natural Frontier Market

⇢ Union Sq Farmers Market

⇢ Thrive Market https://go.magik.ly/ml/nk4l/

2. Our water is in fact contaminated and even some bottled water found in stores are also not as clean as we assume.

I filter my water with the AquaTru filter system which is the first ever counter-top reverse osmosis filter removing over 128 contaminants from our tap water. It sits on top of your counter top without any under the sink installation! It’s so easy to use and more effective than any other filter system I've ever tried.

Apply the discount code: SunKissAlba at checkout using this Amazon link⇢ https://amzn.to/2TykLXm for $100 OFF the AquaTru system

Original Price: $449

*Discounted Follower Price: $349.00*

Still skeptical about your contaminated water?

The AquaTru Filter is an investment into our health and I've owned mine for over 3years now. We purchased it ourselves when AquaTru was fairly new on the market. I’ve been promoting AquaTru in several of my videos and social media for years without any affiliation to the brand. I know many people use the price of AquaTru as a reason to think it's too expensive but what an investment means is, it's a ONE TIME payment allowing you to invest into your health and receive a much greater reward as you’re saving money in the long run. I hope the $100 discount posted above helps you start your investment into your family’s health also.

We use to buy about 4 cases of bottled water a month! Which is expensive because there's not that many clean water bottle brands we trust and the price for the a cleanest brands adds up to way more than a one time fee of $500 for the AquaTru filter. We did the math and we’re so glad to no longer feel stuck or forced to buy bottled water and have the security at home to always acess clean water to drink and cook with. We use re-usable glass bottles to carry our water on-the-go when we’re going out and we ONLY COOK OUR FOOD USING FILTERED WATER from our AuaTru.

3. NON-TOXIC Cleaning Products:

Common household cleaners contain a scary amount of toxic chemicals that are so contridictive because these products claim to "clean" your home but what you’re actually doing is spraying chemicals disguised in fragrance causing your home to be a more contaminated environment affecting the health of your small children with tiny lungs, your pets and yourself. This affects the entire family so making this change is crucial.

Where to shop for cleaner cleaning products? Other than shopping at my health food store in my area that carrys a great amount of non-toxic brands, I love the GROVE.CO website. I've featured them in a few of my cleaning videos on my YouTube channel because they carry so many brands to choose from and I love their cleaning accessories + concentrates packs to insert in my re-usable glass spray bottles.

4. Feminine Products & Personal Care Videos

My Menstrual Products video says it all⇢ https://youtu.be/pF0WfHPV1H4

Feminine Hygiene video ⇢ https://youtu.be/sZNlBbXpjLk

Using organic cotton menstrual products is EXTREMELY important for women. Anything that is inserted or placed on our vagina should be regulated for safety and made with only nontoxic materials. That is just logic right?... But It's not surprising that even our feminine care items are contaminated and have no regulation or law that protect us from buying products with un-safe materials.

As women, we begin our period cycle as young as 9-13 years old and we proceed to use menstrual products for about 40 years! That means most of us go a lifetime using tampons, pads, and vaginal products that are formulated with some of the same ingredients used in car tires, gasoline, glue, perfume, bleach and so much more that SHOULD NOT be in our feminine products. The standard box of tampons and pads doesn't even tell us the materials being used because there's no regulation or law that says we must be informed through packaging. It's no secret that our vagina is absorbable, so what happens when we wear these crappy materials on our precious area meant to carry life from age 13-50? Could this be a factor to infertility rates being higher?

5. Skincare and Makeup is a part of my daily life. Our skin is the largest organ in our bodies which absorbs anything we place on top of it and goes directly into our bloodstream. That's why the skin care products we use and makeup we invest in must be valued with clean quality ingredients in mind. We’ve come a long way but companies are still selling us toxins disguised as beauty. Today it's much easier to have access to REAL HIGH QUALITY cosmetics because we now have stores and online shops designated only for clean beauty.

These are some of the stores you can confidently go into and shop online knowing EVERYTHING is sold there because it's CLEAN.

There are apps you can download like ThinkDirty and EWG to help you learn to read ingredients and determine how clean or dirty your products are.

6. CLOTHING is something I have not fully transitioned and honestly it's not my current goal to only wear sustainable or organic fabric clothing. But it’s still an important category to know know about since clothing is on our bodies everyday. We should be aware of how to read our clothing labels just as much as we do our food labels. Check out the #MakeItFeelRight campaign website at MakeItFeelRight.com to learn more about your clothing labels and how to find sustainable wood fibers fabrics in stores. Clothing companies like H&M and Zara are two of the many stores that sell sustainable fabrics like TENCEL™️ or Lyocell fabrics. This is a great way to start shopping without sacrificing style and budget.
